Heart of Amman III programme aimed at strengthening post COVID-19 resilience and social cohesion among vulnerable groups with a focus on women, youth and refugees. The focus of Heart of Amman III was on creating socio-economic opportunities in specific areas along the Hejaz Railway corridor as well as on bridging the growing digital divide between the different demographic groups in Jordan. In close collaboration with the Greater Amman Municipality and the Jordan Hejaz Railways Corporation, UNDP worked on the implementation of community led initiatives in specific areas along the Hejaz Railway. The initiatives aimed at accelerating urban revitalization, preserving and restoring cultural heritage sites, promoting tourism, improving green infrastructure, developing public and communal spaces, and creating livelihood opportunities for vulnerable groups. COVID-19 exposed the digital divide among different demographic groups with a pronounced negative impact on women refugees and vulnerable groups. In this regard, UNDP also provided market driven and relevant digital literacy training to Heart of Amman III programme participants to facilitate their integration into the labour market.
