Heart of Amman III.
- 150 beneficiaries were trained on life, communication and leadership skills.
- 118 beneficiaries completed basic digital literacy training.
- 21 public sector employees were trained on concepts of participatory approaches and community engagement.
- Together with its partners, UNDP completed the design and implementation 15 community driven initiatives. The initiatives were implemented in 4 locations along the railway, the main station, Al Qasr station, King Abdullah station and Al Jizah station. Initiatives included:
● Rehabilitation of public playgrounds for children.
● Designing green spaces around the stations to create viable public and social spaces for community members.
● Renovating abandoned train carts to be used by the local community as kiosks for selling souvenirs and homemade products.
● Building shaded pedestrian paths with public seating.
● Rehabilitation of an abandoned football field and communal space in Al Jizah station.
● Developing greenhouse farming space of for planting medicinal herbs in Al Qasr station.
● Development of 9 interpretation panels for the main station, AL Qasr station and in Al Jizah station.
● Branding Hejaz Railway products (board games, souvenirs, T-shirts, crafts).
● Training women on the design and production of souvenirs.
- To maximize the impact of the community- led initiatives and to ensure the integration of gender sensitive approaches in local area development, UNDP designed three community led-gender sensitive initiatives that aim at enhancing the socio-economic contribution of women and vulnerable groups and strengthening their role in the development of their communities.
- Full activation and operationalization of the Heart of Amman Hub which is currently serving as an innovation and support center for social enterprises in Jordan.
