Heart of Amman II.

  • 198 beneficiaries were placed in on-the-job training opportunities; approximately 60% remain as full-time employees.
  • 27 beneficiaries were provided with seed funding to establish their own micro ventures; of which 3 were joint ventures between Syrians and Jordanians.
  • 12 businesses, mostly from the previous cohort of entrepreneurs under HoA I were selected to receive scale up funding to grow their micro-ventures- 3 of which were female founded businesses. The sectors included tourism, e-commerce, agriculture, services, food and beverages, education, and environment and waste management.
All businesses were provided with tailored mentorship sessions as well as networking opportunities.
A total of 11 initiatives were designed and implemented by 220 beneficiaries. To ensure sustainability and wide reach, a number of initiatives were connected with well-established CBOs that have similar mandates and objectives.
  • The scope of initiatives implemented was wide and included recycling and upcycling, tourism promotion, the creation of touristic souvenirs, cultural and heritage revival as well as initiatives that provide opportunities for children with mild disabilities to participate in art and cultural activities.
  • The Heart of Amman Programme has a strong focus on promoting entrepreneurship; as a result, the first social entrepreneurship hub, the Heart of Amman Hub, was established in Ras Al-Ain in close collaboration with the Greater Amman Municipality.
  • In partnership with MODEE, UNDP launched Jordan’s first annual Social Entrepreneurship Summit which was attended by NGOs, Jordanian social enterprises, civil society and government representatives, as well as global leaders in social impact business development, in addition to UN experts, donors and social entrepreneurs
